Leadership Development
Global Girl Leadership Initiative Overview
The Global Girl Leadership Initiative is a transformative, three-month leadership program designed by the Global Girl Project (GGP) and proudly implemented in Nigeria by the Strong Enough Girls Empowerment Initiative (SEGEI).
We target marginalized adolescent girls aged 13 to 18, equipping them with the critical leadership skills, confidence, and agency they need to drive tangible social change right within their local communities.
The program’s core outcome centers on a profound transformation that moves beyond leadership theory to achieve visible behavioural shifts, such as evolving into vocal, assertive advocates equipped with a command of their own voices. This empowerment is backed by a substantial shift in structural knowledge, as the girls deepen their understanding of community and problem-mapping, learn about young change-makers around the world, how to use their voice, and project management. Ultimately, they graduate with advanced problem-solving skills, allowing them to critically analyse their environments, identify systemic issues, and design practical, real-world solutions for their communities. Crucially, this program connects them to a global sisterhood. Through virtual cross-border exchange sessions, our girls actively engage with fellow participants in other countries, navigating the exact same program. Together, they learn to project their voices, share cross-cultural insights, and build international solidarity as global changemakers.
Graduates who complete the 3-month program receive education grants to fund their enrollment and cover the costs of their continuous academic advancement.

- Education Advocacy: Campaigns focused on breaking down barriers that keep young people out of school and highlighting the life-changing value of education.
- Substance Abuse & Safety: girls had a round-table dialogue with the traditional leader and cabinet in their community on how drug abuse uniquely threatens the health and safety of girls in their communities, and provided recommendations.
